Richard Turner
Bassoonist Richard Turner graduated from Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in its second graduating class in 1975. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Houston, studying with Paul Tucci, Ben Kamins, and continued studies at Brooklyn College with Leonard Hindell. He has performed in master classes with Fredrick Moritz, Bernard Garfield, and David Breidenthal, and has additional studies with Phillip Kolker and Judith Leclair. He has performed with Houston Grand Opera, Texas Opera Theater, the Houston Pops, Roanoke (VA) Symphony, Lynchburg (VA) Symphony, and numerous freelance engagements in Casper, Houston, New York City, and Southwest Virginia. Since moving to Wyoming in 1996, Mr. Turner has served as Principal Bassoonist with the Wyoming Symphony, as well as serving as bassoonist of the Powder River Symphony, and Black Hills Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Turner has appeared in recital on the ARTCORE and Casper Chamber Music Society concert series, and currently serves as Instructor of Bassoon at Casper College.
