Music + Poetry: Zack Scott Schommer + George Vlastos

ZACK SCOTT SCHOMMER

Zack Scott Schommer, a Wyoming native, whose variety in music can reach all age groups and demographics alike, has been playing music in the Rocky Mountain region for almost a decade now. Zack performs as a one-man-band and music styles range from Country Western, to rock, blues, and more. You can find his new singles, and the album to come, on Spotify, Apple Music, or any of your preferred streaming services under the name Zack Scott. 

GEORGE VLASTOS

George Vlastos never expected poetry to remain a constant in his life. During his undergraduate studies he bamboozled his way into one of Denise Levertov’s poetry workshops (shhh!!!). During his late-20s Vlastos was seen at the grave of Kazantzakis on the island of Crete reciting Homer’s hexameters. His 30s were overwhelmed by the traps and mazes of figurative language until he finally took the cure: earning an MFA at UW in Poetry. The better part of his 40s had him fashioning stanzas in praise of the natural world. Some say it was the other way around: the natural world turned him into a free verse. Now that he’s made it to his 50s, Vlastos has accepted his fate, or plight, or as Robert Graves said: “To be a poet is a condition, not a profession.”
