Ballet Folklórico de Los Ángeles

Ballet Folklorico de Los Angeles catapulted to international fame when millions of television viewers saw them dance at the 90th Annual Academy Awards in celebration of the Pixar movie, Coco. They also performed at the D23 Expo, the Coco Premiere at the El Capitan Theater, and “Disney Night” on Dancing with the Stars working alongside Natalia Lafourcade, Gael Garcia Bernal, and Miguel as they sang the award-winning “Remember Me.” BFLA is part of the Disney live production of Coco which debuted at the Hollywood Bowl in November 2019 and streams on Disney+. Founded in 2011 by Kareli Montoya, this versatile group performs both traditional and modern regional dances in world-class venues including the Dolby Theatre, the Greek Theater, and the Ford Amphitheater with as many as forty-eight dancers! Yet, they also appear in smaller halls with as few as two dancers. Their precise movements and colorful costumes leave audiences spellbound! They also tour four different sell-out shows with partner organization Mariachi Garibaldi de Jaime Cuellar with whom their 2017 production of “Tale as Old as Time” from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast for the “mitú” network, went viral with over 16 million views! Avid proponents of dance education, the group teaches folklórico dance for all ages at their own Academy for Performing Arts (thee-academy.com).

Co-sponsored by Townsquare Media Casper. Partial funding is from Natrona School District No. 1 and the Wyoming Community Foundation – Casper Area.
