At times moody and emotional, at times downright eerie, mysterious, and slightly subversive, Pleasure People is both difficult to categorize and immediately recognizable due to Nick Cantine’s unusual guitar tuning, cerebral lyrical content, and the use of instruments as varied as cello, mandolin, banjo, banjolele, bass, and drums. Pleasure People can be labeled as alternative/folk music, though you’ll find elements of Americana and bluegrass interspersed with quiet musings on family shadows, skid-mounted love, and half-haunted houses.
Edgy, gritty, and moody, Pleasure People’s lyrics and lyrical melodies shine against the backdrop of unusual and intricate arrangements combined with haunting harmonies. Their songs are poetic, sometimes a bit dark, deeply personal, and yet ultimately feel-good fun.
Pleasure People released their debut full-length album titled All Black & Blue in May 2024 and are performing at multiple music festivals throughout the upcoming year. Pleasure People will be performing as the full 6-piece line up for this special Post-Valentine’s Day ARTCORE Showcase.
