Wyoming guitarist Jeff Troxel returns to Casper with a trio of the region’s finest jazz musicians. An award-winning composer and former national flatpicking guitar champion, Jeff’s songs and recording have been featured on public television shows and his many guitar books are published by Mel Bay. Jeff is a graduate of Northwest College (NWC), Berklee College of Music, and the University of Southern California, and is a professor of music at NWC. He is on the faculty of music camps across the country.
Joining Jeff for this concert are NWC colleagues Drs. Zach Paris (drums) and Andrey Goncalves (bass). Zach is the director of Instrumental Music and Percussion and is a native Wyomingite. A graduate of Northwest College, University of Wyoming, University of Nebraska, and Arizona State University, Zach is the recipient of too many awards to name here, and is one of the most sought-after musicians in the region. His compositions are published through C. Alan Publications.
Andrey Goncalves has recently joined the faculty of NWC, coming to Wyoming via his native Brazil, and later Illinois. Before coming to Wyoming, Andrey was on the music faculty of Olivet Nazarene and Eastern Illinois University. He has a strong background in Brazilian music, B.A.M., Afro-Cuban music, and Pop, and has performed with jazz names such as Fred Hersch, Randy Brecker, Frank Gambale, and Bob Sheppard. In 2020, Andrey released his first recording of original compositions entitled Nocturnal Geometries.
There will be something for everyone with original compositions and innovative arrangements of jazz and pop standards.
