Colcannon was formed in 1984 as the house band at the James Pub and Grille in Boulder CO. Over the next three decades they have gone on to play concert halls, festivals, television sound tracks, performing with orchestras and chorales and have fitted in the occasional gig for the Irish President or the Lord Mayor of Dublin.

The band features Brian Mullins on cittern, mandolin, guitar and flute; Mike Fitzmaurice on bass, guitar, bass harmonics, ukulele and (really!) Tuvan throat singing; Jean Bolger on fiddle and concertina and Mick Bolger on vocals, bodhran and bones.

Their nine CD recordings have garnered critical and popular approval, with critics saying: "The sound is full and rich and avoids the cliches of both simplistic folk treatments and the new so-called Celtic and Celtic-rock movements."

"The five-member Irish band Colcannon brought their warmth, vitality and unique brand of Celtic music to an enthusiastic audience at the Redlands Bowl Tuesday evening. Those who weren't aficionados of Irish music when they arrived must surely have been so by evening's end."

"Colcannon's brand of Celtic style music is packed with subtle touches and fluid interplay."
