Music + Poetry: Jim Oliver + Charlotte Babcock

Jim Oliver began his music career in the Army playing in a band at officer and NCO clubs. His musical influences have been the Beatles, Elvis, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Chicago, the Police and some newer bands like Coldplay and One Republic.

Some of his musical accomplishments include: recordings in 1978, 1979, 1986, 2000, and 2007; backed up JJ Cale who wrote songs for Eric Clapton; backed up The Box Tops who sang "The Letter" and "Cry Like A Baby"; won 1st place in 2010 at Casper's Got Talent; won 1st place in 1990 for original song "Can You Hear Me" in the Songwriters Music Fair competition in Denver, CO.

Charlotte Babcock's works have been included in many anthologies. Her books are The Saint Patrick's Story, a book on the 25th anniversary of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, a book on early Casper, Shot Down! Capital Crimes of Casper, and most recently, The Meadowlark's Song...and More. She has been recognized by Wyoming Writers, Inc. with the Emmie Mygatt Award for Outstanding service and in 2000, the Wyoming State Historical Society awarded Shot Down! the History Book of the Year award. The Meadowlark also was identified as an award-winning publication by the Historical Society. Charlotte is working on a sequel to Shot Down! and she recently received the Casper College Alumni Association Commitment to Excellence Award.
