Ana, Rachel and Friends

Ana, Rachel and Friends is a family bluegrass and old time fiddle band from Casper, Wyoming. They have been playing music together since they started to play fiddles. Previously, they have played at the Worland Bluegrass festival as well as Bear Trap Bluegrass festival here in Casper. They have one CD out currently though are in the process of making another.
Ana Merchant, (18) currently a senior at Kelly Walsh High School and plans to go on and study music in college. She began classical violin during preschool with Jennifer Cowell. A year later, her dad got her started in fiddle music. Over the years, she has also picked up mandolin, guitar, viola, and piano. She also participated in the Kelly Walsh A Cappella choir, traveling first to Ireland and then Italy to sing and play fiddle. Currently, she studies classical violin with Jennifer Cowell at Casper College and Sherry Sinift at the University of Wyoming.
Rachel Merchant, (14) an 8th grader at CY Middle School also started classical violin in preschool with Becky Mothersbaugh, though she liked to pretend to play with Ana ever since she could walk. Over the years, she has picked up mandolin, guitar, banjo, piano, and percussion. Rachel studies violin with Jennifer Cowell. She also plays percussion in the CY Jazz Band.
Kim Merchant, father of Ana and Rachel plays banjo and guitar. He has always enjoyed Bluegrass fiddle music and introduced the girls to it as soon as he could.
